*SUMMARY *Inspect and tests printed and laminated samples of materials to verify conformence to prescribed standards and specifications and to assist production personnel in solving quality control problems.PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESThis list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem from time to time.* * · Obtains printed sample of flexible packaging material from Press Operator and performs tests and checks as follows:· Checks processing guide to ensure machine conditions (drive speeds, die, and oven temperatures, primers, and other materials) are correct.· Applies Teflon tape to resin roller to prevent extrusion from sticking and adjusts web guide sensors and trim knives as required.· Checks to insure the correct materials are loaded onto unwind station.· Sets brake control pressures and thread web(s) through machine, lapping and taping ends around take-up core.· Starts machine drives, ignites ovens, and brings extruder into nip section. Increases line speed to production specifications and extruder screw to rpm's required.· Produces laminated sample and submits to Quality Testing for inspections of polyethylene weights, package dimensions, heat seal weights, etc. and makes adjustments to ensure adherence to requirements.· Begins production run after final approval from Quality Testing personnel and/or Supervisor. Splices in new rolls of base materials and print as needed to ensure uninterrupted production run and splices finished materials onto empty take-up cores as needed, cutting samples and submitting to Quality Testing Personnel for testing.· Monitors web thickness using beta gauge, information from Slitter Operators, or by touch to identify hard or soft spots in rolls. Adjusts die to control flow of polyethylene as necessary to maintain constant thickness. Changes nip and/or other rollers as required.· Maintains accurate production reports, Quality Testing reports, and Process Condition forms. Coordinates related activities of Laminator Helper, working to teach proper operational procedures. Disassembles, cleans, and reassembles die monthly as prescribed.· Maintains other equipment and work areas in a neat and orderly manner.· Performs other related work as prescribed.· All staff are responsible for reporting food safety and quality issues to those that can initiate action.SKILL, ABILITY AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTIC REQUIREMENTS· Previous Lab Tester experiience.· Ability to analyze and solve problems.· Excellent organizational skills.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS· High School education or G.E.D. Ability to read and comprehend production orders.
